My marksdwarves, despite being a squad for awhile now (and all equipment being available) are constantly going down to the equipment room and spamming "mismatch" messages. They're the only leather squad group. All other soldiers wearing specifically metal stuff. I've made sure they have enough equipment for each of them.

Have you tried specifically assigning weapons to them rather than telling them to just grab crossbows?

There's a rumor that every time marksdwarves refill their quivers it triggers an equipment mismatch alert.
