Oh, hi!

I was busy building a tabletop RPG that adapts DF.

And typical Bay12 insanity.

I wanted you guys to contribute! Post any suggestions you think should be in the game, ask for clarification. It intends to model the best parts of DF, like the monsters, combat, and gameplay, and mix it with other elements, while leaving out the nitty-gritty that is best left to a computer, like the miniscule details of worldgen.

Questions, comments, and concerns are welcome as always.

Will this be based off of what's already in the game, or what's planned for it?

A little of both. I'm thinking of a variant rule featuring mounts and riding and another with rudimentary magic. The core rules will mimic the latest "full" experience, .34.11, and if I can get people to contribute, we could get a .40 ruleset up too.

Make training throwing incredibly hard.
But give it some of the OPness of throwing as is in .34.11.
Not the killing dragons with rocks but, but...
Some kinda use, like throwing teammates over walls.
And toss in alcohol dependency as necessary for all dwarves.
And make Elven characters have a temporary negative effect after purchasing things made with wood.
Yes, I'm joking.

Actually, I kinda like the throwing silliness and the alcohol dependancy.

Alright, so, a preemptive warning: this game involves plenty of table-checking and slightly overkill dice-rolling. Currently, the game involves rolling a d12 to do something and adding your skill level and/or attributes to it.

Combat is resolved by both sides rolling d12s and the attacker selecting a body part and adding their Fighter, Agility, and appropriate weapon skill to the roll and the defender adding their Dodge and Armor/Shield User (if applicable) to their roll. Whoever gets higher wins out, and if the attacker succeeded, they roll another d12 and add appropriate skills (Strength and weapon skill; different weapons let you advance higher) and comparing the roll to a table to determine damages. Not all higher rolls are better (The highest possible roll is a miss), but most are.

I need your input on skills; I want at least one skill representing each dorf mode skill group, and I will definitely have all of the combat skills individually.

Mining can represent itself,
Masonry likewise,
Carpentry can get that group...

Wait, what skills are you talking about?

Special maneuvers can be performed. They do things like in the game, like breaking bones, but they have a higher chance of success.

So, I'm thinking of taking character classes and sample magic items from their threads in the FG&RP section. Thoughts?
