Yes, its been widely reported that damage isnt lethal enough. Try slashing the throat, it usually works best.

Ah okay, but it seems to be not all damage.
I am perfectly able to kill most of the things that come my way,
it was just this one instant where my companion was utterly unable to kill the goblin.
Actually it went so far, that the hammerman passed out from beating the goblin, who in turn awoke and skewered the hammermans brain with a single strike.
(I then battered it into submission, made it my companion, only to have it turn on me again)

demand that it cease this pointless fighting, if it refuses, beat the tar out of it and demand again.


if you fast travel while its your companion, it should stop attacking you when you stop fast travelling, and remain your loyal ally

Maybe he was just a really, really weak hammerman.

also isn't maul's one of the weaker blunt weapons because having massive contact area size and thus not deep penetration.

I am quite content with the letality of a -pomegranate wood training axe- I found.
So not all damage is dumbed down, just some... but maybe it was really just a super weak hammerman after all...
Gotta find and test with a bronze maul.

So I have been able to kill a goblin with a candy training sword - which should be about the most useless weapon in the game - and it only took 10 strikes to the head. Though I had to wrestle away the helm or otherwise it would have deflected every strike.

So apparently it was the weakness of the Hammerman. Then again the goblin wore a hood, so I will have to try it again once I find a goblin with a hood.
