Speed dropping upon becoming a vampire?

Running around as an elf with superior agility at about 1750 speed. Get a quest to kill a vampire, do so fairly easily (why would you spend an eternal life making cheese?), drink his blood. . . and fall to 1250 speed. What gives?

INSTANTLY? perhaps your speed got so high it created a rounding error. Side note: how do you check your speed in the present version? all my interface tells me is what percent of my normal speed I'm moving at, so far as I can tell.

This is 34.11 (keep forgetting to mention). Seems to happen upon doing anything that might affect your speed. First time it happened, I was at over 2000 speed, then I dropped a corpse (they're good throwing weapons) and my speed sank.

Supernatural strength isn't modeled correctly in 34.11, so you end up overburdened with muscles that can't carry their own weight when you become a vampire.
