Question Regarding Catapults and Enemies
« on: July 29, 2014, 11:52:06 pm »

So, me and my friends had an excellent idea. Is it possible to launch enemies from catapults?

Meaning, can I put caged enemies into a catapult and launch them?

Well, damn. That would've been amazing. Launching Goblins against their own kind. Imagine that. haha.

You could sort of do it with a raising bridge that you dropped the goblins on, though it doesn't fling them very far.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

Could you use minecarts? I forget about how those work. Creatures can ride, not sure if they can get flung off in cages

Just send a minecart slamming into them, and send the chunks flying.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

somewhat planned?  I'm sure there was some other mention of this sort of thing somewhere, so i'm pretty sure that's what this means

Yes you can launch goblins from minecarts. Because any container hitting a wall at high speed will eject its contents one square above and out, or through fortifications. And cages are containers.

Thus, put a caged goblin in a minecart, have it slam into a wall fast enough, the cage will fly out. Have another wall positioned so that the cage slams into it, and it will eject the goblin out who will then fly in a parabolic trajectory until impact, hopefully with another goblin.

You could also theoretically launch an armed dwarf with a little cave spider web trickery to get him in a cage first. If you were to perfectly calculate the trajectory so that he landed not too hard, perhaps on a featherwood landing pad (having him land near the slowest top point of a trajectory perhaps? I don't know) right in the middle of an area set up so that goblins have to pass by it? Or I don't know, a cage of poisonous giant bees?

Actually I didn't stop and think that just sitting in the minecart for a dwarf would probably work yes. Lol. Whatever, man.

Bonus points: Leave small vaults with weapons and ammo all around in your battlefield city Mountainhome 3.
