Playing as clowns?

I know it's entirely possible to play as whatever species you like, as well as whichever ones you feel like modding in. Is it possible to play as randomly generated creatures, however? Or do I have to find a nice combination I like in someone's world and recreate it in a static form. It'd be really neat to have a "race" that changed from world to world.

To play as clowns, in the entity file, set DEMONx (with x being a number, every gen'd demon gets a no.ID) under the creature spot.
You'll have to ask someone else for the ID's of forgotten beasts/angels now though, I don't know them.

well Nightcreatures1-16 are the troll variation everything above would be bogeymen unless you remove them.

That's not necessarily true. It depends on world size and number of beasts when doing Generate a World Now.

Either way -
DEMON_x are the demons and unique demons.
FORGOTTEN_BEAST_x are the forgotten beasts.
HFx DIVINE_1 are the divine warrior types. x here is the internal ID of a historical figure. It'd be practically impossible to get that right, but maybe you can change it for outsider adventurers, I haven't tested that in an eternity. Also, yes, that's a space between the ID and DIVINE.
HFx DIVINE_2 are the divine servant types. Same notes as above.
HFx DIVINE_3 are the divine mega types. Same notes as above again.
NIGHT_CREATURE_x are the night trolls, bogeymen, and werebeast forms.
TITAN_x are the titans.

Edit - note that it's impossible to get civilizations of these creatures in world gen, and I think you can't fort mode with them either. I'm pretty sure you'll only be able to play adventurers, and likely only outsider adventurers (give the entity INDIV_CONTROLLABLE).

I can just imagine playing as a Fogotten Beast:

NPC: Wow, for a towering one-eyed skinless bison, he sure was a nice fella!

NPC 2: It was inevitable.

then everyone runs away and or tries to stab you in the shin while running away.

Adventure mode as a forgotten beast would be an amazing way to destroy a succession fort so that it had to be reclaimed !!FUN!!. You got my attention  :)

Im having difficulty getting this to work, would I go into the worlds raws and type in something like

[ENTITY:HFS]
[INDIV_CONTROLLABLE]
[CREATURE:DEMON_19]

Is there anything else I need to make them playable?

Hum. That should be sufficient, and I know it used to work. But my tests also don't show them. :-\ Perhaps that generated raw change Toady made before releasing 0.40.01 "broke" this behavior.

Have you tried it DEMON_1 ? Maybe there just aren't 19 demons.

I checked the uncompressed raws, there was a "DEMON_19"
