King? Who ordered a king?
« on: July 21, 2014, 11:12:59 am »

Playing 40.04. Embarked on a necromancer infested world. Nobody died of tree inflicted injuries which was good.

Summertime my first wave of 5 migrants arrived shortly followed by an army of undead. With all of 13 dwarves I started to prepare for final resistance but the undead never attacked just camping in the top left of the map. Its now spring of the second year and there have been no other visitors, either traders, migrants or the liaison.

Suddenly my carpenter became queen (of the other 12 dwarves???). Any suggestions what happened or how I can find out? My civilisation still shows up on the c screen, but could it have been wiped out?

Civs show up on the screen even if they are wiped out. If your fort is the only thing that is left from you civilisation, a king will be chosen from your population (or from merchants).
This usually happens In the beginning of the new year. Apparently, kings chosen this way will proceed to work and not slack off. I recommend to create royal rooms for the king, because if he dies out of frustration, a new king will be chosen from your dwarves.

Thanks. Good to know (especially about the not slacking off) Think the 13 may be doomed... Assume new migrants are now out of the question?
