I'd assume that it'd be with your weapon, but so far, every kick I've landed to a person's face in Adv. mode has instantly exploded their face and killed them.
At the same time, I can't figure out how to wrestle, as after I get a grip I perpetually go into the state "Regaining Balance", and the menus say nothing but "Release Grip".

Best attack: I've never found face kicking to be that effective, but if it works for you, being a Kicker by trade might not be a bad idea. I just love having a sword or an axe and going for one hit decapitations.

Wrestling: Which part of their body are you grabbing and what part are you grabbing with? Some body parts don't have any interactions and all you can do is release your grip. I usually use right/left arm/hand and go for their throat so I can choke them unconscious and whale on them while they're helpless.

I was using my upper arms, which I assume is a little bit silly now that I realize I can grip with my hands in game.  :-X

on most body parts grappling is severely limited
if your going for wrestling you should probably use your hands

Drawing and strapping weapons appears to be instantaneous, or very close to it. It's safer to have one hand for grabbing and one hand holding a shield, though going from weapon + shield to bare hand + shield requires you to go into the menu.

I'm a fan of biting. Sometimes when I try and stab people in the throat it bounces off, but a bite and shake can open up an artery even if the initial bite only bruised.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

My 5 cents.

A hammer is good with its blunt attack, but only against enemies that feel pain (which are not the ones you need to worry about).
A spear is great against megabeasts, as its the only way to effectively bleed some of them, but is bad at removing someone from combat, so not good against multiple opponents..
A pickaxe is my all time favourite if you can get one, it's a mix between a hammer and spear and I've used one to kill everything from bandits to a bronze colossus.
A sword is very versatile and my most common weapon, it has the benefits of an axe and a spear.
An axe is decent, great when it's got its specific enemy (Weapon wielding, unarmoured), but it lacks versatility.
Wrestling is useful as a tool and easy to level.
Shields, pick them up and 'r'emove them from your pack. you end up with a much better block.
