Lost Advanced Ancient ruins
« on: July 11, 2014, 05:30:24 pm »

I got this idea while playing Phantasy star IV a couple months ago. Actually I meant to share it longer before after reading some Atlantis books by Thomas Grenias like 34th degree. Its about an ancient civilization that once existed in a time before time. There can be one or more ancient ruins of a lost civilization that existed before recorded history. Its kinda like the ancient ruins from the earlier versions. Pyramids, Ziggurats, labyrinths monolithic columns ETC. They can exist either in the wilderness shrouded in foliage or in mountains, underground in caves or in later versions evn underwater.

These places were either lost, buried forgotten sunken whatever by a deity long ago in a time before time are loaded with undead and with traps artifacts and treasures possibly even a gateway to hell or some other place for fun. They can be discovered by adventurers wandering into them or if dwarves build a fortress in their vicinity or in the case of buried civilizations dig into them like with a demon fortress.

example of what Legends mode would say

Quote
(name of site) was a lost civilization. Little is known about it but legends say that it was (buried, forgotten, sunken) somewhere in (world name)long ago before anyone remembers

In a time before time, (site)profaned and offended(deity)and was lost and forgotten/sunk/buried underground whatever

In a time before time (name)was a spear master in (site)

In 235 (adventurer) stumbled upon (site) In the (region)
Now these people mentioned are random warlords that you will learn about the way in Ancient ruins in past versions. The warlords are powerful veterans you will fight. You can also find in the ruin hieroglyphics that a skilled reader can read. they contain information about relics or artifcats or veterans that are randomly generated

A dwarven civilization can find them too

Quote
In (year) the dwarves of (fort) discovered (site) while tunneling in (region)

Again where the ruins are depends on how it was destroyed. Forgotten means it is in the Jungle or in the forest Burined means its in an underground region and is likely to be found by tunneling dwarves. Sunken means its underwater but that probably wont happen until Toady gets to navies and underwater stuff.

It wont be shown in legends until it is found
You can find the ruin by conversing with villagers about clues to its whereabouts.
Quote
(peasant) The ancient city of (site) is far to the south

In a time before time (site) was abandoned and lost

Or...

(peasant) The Ancient city of (site) Is a days travel to the northwest

In a time before time the people of (site) Profaned (deity) who caused (site) to sink in the ocean

How it is destroyed whether by profaning a deity or being forgotten or from a war whatever is random.

If you're dwarves are near one expect lots of fun in the form of undead armies attacking your fort. But if you survive there is much reward from treasures slabs and artifacts found.
