Plant gathering zones and gathering designations

It irks me that while my dwarves gather bushes and plants just fine with [d,p], i can't designate fallen coffee cherries or limes or any fallen fruit for gathering.
Creating an [i] for continuous plant gathering, or otherwise [d,p]-ing a tree for gathering would be quite useful for not letting all that delicious coffee go to waste.
