If we bombard worlds with human populations, we run the risk of angering the local sector commander. While his approval or disapproval of our tactics is immaterial, he can deny our requests for support if we purge viable worlds of human life in our zeal to eradicate the xenos.

When each exterminated xenos brings the new dawn of humanity closer, caution is nothing but an unforgivable vice. Marine's death is well justified as long as he took hundreds of vile xenos along with him. Remember that we are Executioners. We are the vanguard of Emperor's wrath, brothers. We do not falter.

In the year 738M41, the Warboss Dregteef come to sector Hozo in his unholy quest for power and bloodshed.

The executioner fleet at large was there, meeting with the local ruling adeptus mechanicus Magos Descartes, over arrangements for maintaining and resupplying the fleet itself on his way to the Segmentum Tempestum after unsettling news from the imperial watchers in the galactic south.

In need of time to resupply and restock, the Executioner have no choice but tho defend the sector until reinforces can relieve them.

To face the current Ork Menace, the fleet split in two:

While the the first company with mechanized support and the initiates are moving south with the fleet at large to meet the main Ork WAAG, the bulk of the space marines are moving east to squash the Ork uprising happening on different systems of that quadrant, trying to prevent the greenskin to connect and regroup with the main force.

During the passage in the immaterium, Captain Blaze requested a meeting with the Forge Master Ryndolf, to lament of the lack of power weapons necessary to face the Ork warmachines

As the two forces emerge from the warp, unsettling news come from the astropaths, as one more sector system was lost for an Ork rebellion
Spoiler: Molech is lost (click to show/hide)

The fleets are now on Gohurra and Hammerfront.

The Hammerfront system is void of any planet

Gohurra system is in control of the adeptus mechanicus and contains two planets, of which one forge world.

Both planets on Gohurra have the presence of ancient and powerful artifacts reported by our psykers.

Nab the artifact on Hammerfront, they're on neutral planets so the planetary governor should hand them over without a fuss.
Wouldn't bother trading with the Mechs, either swipe it and take the rep hit or ignore it.

Might as well assign those heavy bolters and lascannons to replace some regular bolters; every bit helps.

If you don't want to deal with fleets, hold at a nearby system and wait for the fleet to depart. You can then run in and take the system; though you may run into an escort or cruiser if the trip takes too long (The AI can build a battle barge in a single turn.). The Ork fleet will always be dismantled when they colonize a planet so you can then destroy the remaining presence at your leisure.

With Orks you should wait for them to crash their ships into planets then kill them there. They make huge fleets and then crash them into the nearest planet. If you send a fleet towards the planet they just vacated you will run into whatever ships the orks can produce while you are traveling but it usually won't be a dangerous fleet. Then you can raid or bombard them until you see another large orc fleet headed to the system your fleet is in.

In my last game I was bombarding Orks if they were above Heavy (1000 orcs per battle) presence and the planet had a few billion people on it. All my ships combined was enough to drop their presence by 2 and kill over a billion civilians. At Heavy presence you can win with only wounded marines and dreadnaughts when raiding if you use the whole (unsieged) chapter. You can win against more orcs but you might take KIA marines or destroyed dreadnaughts if you do as the orks will have vehicles of their own. Their artillery likes to kill my tech marines for example.

If you have the patience then unloading your entire chapter (including vehicles) for a defense may allow you to win against larger groups with limited casualties as depending on the planet's fortification level you start behind variously powerful walls that absorb enemy fire before you take casualties. I haven't tried much with that as unloading everyone, especially with companies on multiple ships, is a long process while raiding is a few clicks.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

5th Company towards Sector Sabbatorus Sector.

OOC: On the subject of the artefacts. Maybe report what they are to the ones who find them via PM. That way it can be up to the player what to do with them and whether to report them or not to the rest of the chapter. Subversive elements should be a personal struggle to inspire diligence at all times.

Also, I'm wanting to do a group picture of us fine chapter captains. If you would like to give your captain a specific look something, send me a PM and I'll take it on board. I can also design Company banners if you'd like one (The ones Space Marines carry into battle), have a look at ones by doing a Google search on "Space Marine Company Banners" and I'll work on that too. I'm not terribly stingy when it comes to lore-friendliness and all that, but maybe if we're wanting the theme of this to be relatively serious keep it within plausible. (I know the average Space Marine is a bald, brick-built slab of grim grimness with all the personality of said brick).
