Procedurally Generated Metals

Slight Spoiler Warning for 2014 HFS

With the new release I was very happy to discover the new procedurally generated metals but unfortunately they all seem to have the same physical properties. The part which is randomized is their names and I believe their descriptions.

I would love to see truly randomly generated metals added to the game where their density and other physical properties have a range of values they are generated during world creation and become permanent after that point. Since these metals are intended to be quite powerful it would make sense to weight the probabilities so that the metals are on average slightly better than steel. Some would obviously just randomly end up better than others which would provide real variety and real surprises when they are encountered.

You could end up getting hit by some mace that is like a whiffle bat or platinum sledge hammer and you wouldn't know which it was until it landed.

I'm very sure this is planned. The current system is more a "proof of concept" deal anyhow.

Yeah, the metal/cloth adjectives and new creature sphere flavor descriptions are just kind of staking out stuff I'd actually like to model, some possible with current tags, some not.  I didn't get a chance to spend much time on it yet.

Slight Spoiler Warning for 2014 HFS
It's not much of a spoiler if the game outright tells you what kind of procedural metals there are in the manager's [j,m,q] job cue.

I think that might be the end goal for these metals, maybe for a new release. out of curiosity, what are the metals like now? I heard that they were better than steel.

They are very light weight with generally slightly better stats than steel. Edged weapons made of the new metals will cut through steel armor and are quite nice but the lack of density keeps the metal from being useful for blunt weapons. The new metals are a bit like a step between steel and adamantine.
