Steel standard vs Iron artifact?

So, I was producing steel to finish off my militia, when after it all one of my Blacksmiths goes into a fey mood. Afterwards, he produces Otunggudid Shocklessened, and Iron Right Gauntlet. I want to know is it better than my steel gauntlets, or should I just trade it away to the traders that just showed up.

K, thanks. Maybe I'll actually just give it to my Expedition Leader (or Mayor, if he is one yet, not sure). Would seem like a worthy gift.

the problem with artifact guantlets and boots, is the maker only made ONE. equipment mismatch = massive headache. Good luck.

It's not possible to trade, melt, or otherwise destroy artifact-quality objects without atomsmashing them or allowing kobold thieves to steal them.

OKay, So would I be better going with an artifact wood buckler or a wooden shield of high quality?  I think the militia captain can handle the hit, in any case.

Shields have a higher block chance than bucklers, and I am unsure if there is any block benefit to artifacts/quality.

quality does not affect block chance so an artifact shield has the same blocking ability as a standard wooden one.
