Perhaps this fits.
Footsteps.
A sound I recall most.
Not one pair, not two pairs but… Dozens.
I recall falling over something. A rumbling. I begin to feel a sense of free falling before my hand is grabbed.
“Hold on!
Don’t let go!!”
I heard this as there was some strange force. It pulled me farther from this voice.
“J-Just a little longer!”
The desperation in the voice. I recall my hands burning. The pain. The noise.
“N-No! I-I can’t!”
My voice repeated in my head. My hands feel numb and I began falling. An empty abyss. The rolling of waves. The storm above is all I recall as I fall in and out of unconsciousness. I see a…
cliff now. The visage on it was terrifying… I couldn’t keep my eyes off of it. Moments later, I felt myself stop moving. Soft… Warm… Everything hurts… M-Maybe a little nap… I’ll… I’ll figure things out soon enough...
A young Eevee approaches the Wigglytuff guild.“Hmm…” She hums as she approached a grate in the ground. She stares hesitantly at it. pacing around, keeping her tail close to her. She looks determined. They mutter something to themselves. “No… I’m going to do it…
now or never…” She steps on the grate. A voice comes out from the grate.
“Pokemon detected! Pokemon detected!”
“Whose footprint! Whose Footprint!” A voice calls back.
“Eevee’s! The footprint is Eevee’s!”
She shudders as this goes on and as the voice is finished she yelps and jumps backwards to her previous position. Off the grate. Staring at it intently… She had a short burst of panic, looking around. They sigh as they realize they failed. “I.. I can’t… I vowed I’d go in there but…” She looked into a small bag she had with her and pulled out a
stone with a few archaic markings. She frowned and nuzzled it out where she can see it in the full light of the waning night. She whispered something to it in an almost insane fashion. “I thought bringing you would help…” She sighs. “I just can’t do it…” She puts in back in her bag and berates herself for being such a coward. She turned and began south… To the beach.
Unbeknownst to her, there were two pokemon in the bushes. They spoke.
“Hey Zubat.”
“Yeah Koffing?”
“That kid had something with him?”
“Yeah he did.”
“Think it’ll catch a pretty Poke?”
“Yeah I bet it will.”
They chuckle and
begin following her.
Krabby beach.Eevee arrives at Krabby beach after a few minutes of travel. She smiles as she sees a few Krabby blowing bubbles across the horizon, the sunlight off of each bubble making a rainbow of colors.
”What a beautiful sight…” She says, enraptured by the sight. She stares out into the
beautiful sight that the horizon has become, once again, enraptured. She begins to speak aloud, not of her own choosing. “The Krabby… Coming out every sun down and blowing bubbles… Reflecting the sun off the waves… Beautiful…” She says. She continues to ramble on however…
“The place I choose to come when I’m down… Always making me feel better…” She smiles once more and wordlessly pokes a passing bubble with a paw and laughs. She begins on her way back before hearing a groaning…
A prodding on my stomach… A faint feminine voice talking to me. I slowly open my eyes…
A fox like creature… It looks familiar… It stares at me. I look at it with a look of confusion. I feel an odd weight on my head that isn’t the normal things… My hands and feet are still numb… My back feels heavier than normal… I groan again. I sigh and pull myself up and mentally shriek. I am… No more than a few feet tall. I’m… I’m tiny. This thing is eye level with me. She smiles and puts a paw on my back. “Good! You’re not dead. Thought we lost
another on those boats.”
I tilt my head in confusion. “What boats?” I ask before shaking my head and looking around. A bubble pops in front of me as I look at this thing again. “N-Nevermind… Where am I?”
She didn’t seem to notice and kept going on. “You weren’t mooooving and I got worried!” She chuckles nervously. I sighed and she got the message. “Right right… Uh… If you weren’t drowning you uh… have any idea how you
got here?” I shook my head… Though how she didn’t notice I was napping in a bit… ditzy. Yeah. Ditzy of her. She smiled. “Anyways, my name is Magnetite. Odd yes, but eh. Gotta keep what your mamma gave ya.” She chuckled at her own joke. “You got a name?”
I paused for a moment. “I… I remember being… Human.” I mumble. She jumps in surprise.
“Human? W-We uhm… You look like a n-normal Turtwig!” I sigh. Yes. That’s what I am apparently. She tilts her head as I try and recall what happened. “You’re strange. Are you a spy?!” I glared at her and shook my head. I am
not making an enemy of the first thing I meet here. “You’re telling the truth? The whole truth right? I can easily uh…” She looked around for a second. “I can totally drown you right here if you’re lying!” She said, trying to sound threatening. I found it rather cute. “Just… Answer my question.”
I paused yet again. Yes… Name… Name…
“Ice…” I lied. I didn’t remember it anymore. It slipped my mind… Ice was the only thing that came to mind. It was only thing I could recall. She tilted her head.
“Ice? Odd name. Regardless… You haven’t tried to kill me or anything… Friends?” She holds out a paw and smiles. “Sorry for uh… Yelling earlier… Bad pokemon have been showing up and it’s been scaring me…”
Just as she finished talking
two idiots show up and push Magnetite down and grab her back and look around in it. The bat thing looked at it and grabbed this stone thing. “H-Hey! Why’d you do that!” The purple rocky sphere
thing laughed as well as the bat.
“Heh-heh-heh-heh! We’re here to sell this here stone and get enough poke to make a fortune!”
“Wh-What?!”
“This stone’s your’s innit?”
She nods, staring at the stone.
“Well you’re wrong.” Said the purple sphere. “It’s ours now, see?”
Magnetite was frozen in fear. Staring at the two with a look of anger in her eyes. I tried to stay out of sight… Perhaps I’d be unnoticed by them. “If you excuse us kid, we got to get out of here.” He says in a very condescending tone.
The two moved past us into the nearby cave. I stared into it, confused as to
what just happened.
Her ears lowered as she realized what just happened. “...Oohh…” She cringes. “Wh-What should I… What should I do?” She asks me. I look at her and tilt my head. “I-It’s my personal treasure… It means everything to me…” She rambles on for a few seconds before shaking her head. “C-Can you help me?”
I couldn’t find a reason to tell her no… I nodded and she brightened up. “Let’s go!”
Next time, on Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky Nuzlocke… We actually progress.
