How do I take a screenshot of the game?

Press the print screen key on your keyboard. This will make a copy of your screen and keep it in your clipboard. Then open an image program, such as paint, and paste the image from the clipboard.

Save it, then upload the image to an image hosting site.

Or you may use software to take the picture, such as the windows snipping tool, if you have that can do that.

If you want a full picture of an entire map level you can use export local image (i think that is right) in the escape menu and choose the levels you wish to export.

Greenshot is a pretty good screenshot program. Doesn't work with certain games, though. (No idea if it works with DF)

You can use Alt + PrtScr to save an image of your active window to the clipboard. Then you can paste it into an image editing program to save it.

Shutter is a great little Linux utility that lets you select an arbitrary area of the screen, which is nice for capturing small images without having to crop later. I think the Windows equivalent is called Snipping Tool.

On a mac, I often use alt-shift-F4 to select specific areas.
I'm probably among the few mac users here, though.

I use Puush myself, though I'm not sure if it works with DF.
It lets you take a screenshot of the currently opened program, the entire screen, or a chosen selection and then immediately drops it as a link in your clipboard.
