Since I haven't found an active thread for discussing movies instead of praising or condemning them, I will create one. This thread is for discussing specific movies, as well as the history of film and film technique.

Starting topic:

Does anybody think Suicide Squad bears a resemblance to both The Expendables and Escape From New York?

(Haven't seen any of those except for Escape From New York-- wait, I think I did see The Expendables... that was the who's-who of action movie stars, right? That was so bitterly disappointing I think I repressed the memory completely. )

Harley Quinn is the only somewhat interesting thing in the movie.
This is the least threatening joker since Adam West batman, and despite being the most hyped thing about the movie, is completely and utterly irrelevant to the plot.
Will Smith sucks balls, but he should keep being an actor because he's clearly not a decent director, lel.
Plot makes no sense (forgivable, since its based off a comic book, but really, how exactly is the squad a backup plan for superman, specially in the movie's universe? What will harley quinn, will smith and fucking captain boomerang do against level-entire-cities-with-his-bare-hands general zodd?)
Batman still has throat cancer.
Giant laser shooting into the sky, meh.
Soundtrack has so many licenses attached to it that they prob spent half the budget just on it. And its still kind of bleh.

Still better than ghostbusters tho. Also batman punches harley quinn in right in the kisser. Good one bat.

That sounds pretty dang silly, hahaha.
I haven't really read/heard anything about the movie's plot outside of this thread, but isn't Superman generally the backup plan for, well, everything else?
Superman's various powers fail to take care of whatever Big Bad is causing trouble, so people turn to the power of Friendship instead?

Superman may be dead. He was stabbed after exposure to kryptonite gas during a battle with a monster created by Lex Luthor at the end of Superman Versus Batman.

I've started watching Logan Lucky, since most of the TV shows I've been watching lately would require a significant investment of both time and attention to continue. It has a pretty great soundtrack so far, at least!

The movie had only just started, how was I supposed to know if I could recommend it or not?!    

It was pretty good, though, actually.
