that's definitely a coming feature but I don't think it's scheduled for this release. within one or two content releases I expect you'll be sending out your little expeditions.

I am quite looking forward to the next 20 or 30 years or so of developmental madness

Mine was probably when I started promoting cheesemakers to medical training dummy deliberately injuring useless migrant dorfs to train my hospital staff.

It's a dwarf.  Their natural habitat is "trapped on the wrong side of a wall".

Flinging children halfway across the map to land in magma is good, wholesome fun, but extramarital reproduction?  Why, that's just unseemly!

My start of darkness was a combination during my first successful fort. First the elves left because I offered them a bunch of rocks in a wooden basket. Then my best metalsmith was put in prison because of the Mayor. Those two things caused me to snap, and I've never been the same.

I tried once to be nice to kobolds and let them leave with stupid things... And they came back armed. Since then I had no mercy towards the enemies of the fort.
But that is still not sociopathic enough.
Altough, slaugthering plump-helmet man babies to keep their population in line and walling nobles with their kids and wife included in the dark until they starve, I drown them or melt them with magma, or one goes berserk and kills the rest when they begin being annoying is maybe pretty dark...

My second turn's unnoficial goal was to turn everyone into vampires, and it backfired so bad, I ended up making the fort a more efficient, safer and friendlier place.
Apparently they evolved a taste for everything I love and care about

I do my best to give my dwarves good lives. Captured invaders, on the other hand...

I do engineer self-destruct systems. However, one time I used one to start flooding the fort with magma after it was plain it would be lost, I remember the last two dwarves were in the hospital. One unconscious in bed. As the magma closed in on them in agonizing slowness (it kind of killed the framerate), the conscious dwarf started tantruming, tossing a chair around the room in his last moments, and I felt really bad.

Depends on how you define darkness.
I see myself more like a biological and psychological scientist.

I propose we build a scale from Corai to Girlinhat.

An Objective unit of measure, may I say?

I don't mean to alarm you, but it appears that your Dwarves are all in fact elephants.

When I first built the suffocation chamber two years ago. The first (dwarven) caravan on my fortress arrived and had some great stuff I needed but couldn't buy, so in they went to the trade depot built at an incompletely craved cave in the mountain.

The two tiles wide entrance to that cave wasn't supposed to feature a 10 tile drop covered by floor grates but funny how things things work out, right?

Reused that chamber for population control later on.

This makes me realize that a dwarf fort is basically a concentration camp with better living condition.
I mean, the dwarfs don't get paid, and they get hammered if they look at a noble wrong.

Okay, so someone will have to explain to me how, exactly, hill dwarves will work. I think I've been inferring it from what I read, but Hell if I have a straight answer yet. It SOUNDS like we'll at least be sending our own dwarves into the nearby hills to set up connected settlements we can interact with in some way, because he says you'll have a choice of whether to use them or not, and that we can send our skilled people out to train them.
