"You have discovered a great magma sea."
« on: May 04, 2014, 08:53:52 pm »

Has anyone else managed to do this in adventure mode before?
I found a volcano and dove into it and swam down to the SMR.
This is not normal.
So far I'm neither drowning nor burning to death.
UPDATE: I found raw adamantine. It gave me the "praise the miners" thing.
I suppose these things are scripted to happen no matter what the mode.

You get some of the same messages in adventure mode as you do in fort mode. Plus a few additional ones such as reaching the summit of a mountain or finding a volcano.

Others may have found the sea before, but I don't believe that it's possible without swimming through a volcano, wandering through an abandoned fort, or using DFHack to dig your own way down.

I haven't been down to the sea, but I have made it into Hell a few times.

You can also find it via Underground Fortresses, caverns leading into magma pipes and occasionally a deep pit or two. Most don't usually bother looking for the SMR, as there's little to do down there and getting there is arduous and usually accidental.
