Scarred Forgotten Beast

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
It goes on after that, too. I saw some reports of it being enraged and calming down earlier, so it must have been fighting with something, but sheesh, those are a lot of scars. It doesn't seem to be injured in any way at all either than that, too. How did it get so many scars?

does rotting or blisters ever leave scars?  not that forgotten beasts can be affected by such syndromes... I think..
can anyone answer those two quesitons?
Anyway, maybe all these scars were recieved as the result of being dogpiled by many weak creatures that couldn't outright kill it.  Does it emit a gas that might take a while to kill something, giving them time to scratch away at many bodyparts?

I am quite looking forward to the next 20 or 30 years or so of developmental madness

IIRC it emits poisonous vapours. That's likely what caused it then. Thanks!

I can testify that blisters often leave scars, and that (organic) forgotten beasts can definitely be affected by syndromes. I recently put down a gigantic salamander who had stepped in a towering three-eyed ant's noxious secretions years ago, and still had all four of its feet constantly rotting.

In one of my first forum posts, I was asking a question about a forgotten beast that fought for over a year, nonstop, with a reptilewoman - and a good portion of the fight was underwater. Eventually it seemed to forget where she was and wandered off (i.e., she won), but that wasn't before its stat screen was filled to a good number of pages with scars. It can happen, and it's completely normal for DF, even if you don't see it much. Creatures heal during combat.

edit: it was my very first forum post. http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=95802.msg2732360#msg2732360
