Miauw makes a text adventure game!
« on: April 09, 2014, 02:57:08 pm »

It doesnt't even have a proper name yet. The folder is currently called ADVENTURE. I don't have (m)any ideas for a plot but probably sci-fi I guess.

Either way, I've promised myself that I'm going to write a text adventure game for several reason:
  • Improving my C# skills
  • Improving my writing skills (I have hardly ever written anything though)
  • Actually coding a standalone project, all of my other coding ventures are for /tg/station.
And for (hopefully) impressing a girl <.<  >.>

So yeah. Today I have finally started with this. It's not much, but hey.

Current structure ideas: (laying in bed at night/in the morning, thinking about how to code~)
4 types of things:
Rooms, self-explanatory.
Entities, anything you can examine IN a room.
Doors, to transfer between rooms. (possibly a subtype of Entities)
NPCs, talks to you. (using simple conversation trees) (possibly a subtype of Entities???)

This is the first thing I'm ever doing in C#, so roadbumps everywhere, probably.

Todo:
set up a todo list.

Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.

Good luck with it, man! Hope it turns out as you wish, looking forward to seeing the finished (or at least playable, if you decide to release early versions) thing!

Edit: My reaction probably seemed weird, but you included the words Sci-fi, text-adventure, and NPCs...My interest was instantly gained. Seriously, good luck.
