Possible placeholder creature
« on: March 12, 2014, 08:39:31 pm »

When some dwarves immigrated in the spring (lots of food!), some weird thing (in a vanilla game btw) called a <tame bushtit> appeared and could not be butchered, war or hunting trained, and I don't want to train it because I think it might f*ck up the game hard, can anyone tell me what this "thing" is?

It's actually a vermin creature and I've never heard of migrants arriving with vermin pets.

If you have cats around, it'll sooner or later get eaten by them anyway.

I'm not 100% sure but I think it's just a small animal. Like you catch vermin in small animal traps.

Cats will think of my fortress as a death camp because if some strays arrive, I butcher them asap, I found out that this was a vermin also, never mind.

Vermin-Control Tip: Only butcher the female cats. You may also want to keep a single female cat alive.

Or you can use auto-butcher target 10 2 10 2 CAT, so that you always have a large, fixed amount of cats and enough births to get some meat & skulls fairly frequently.

A bushtit, like all other tits, is a small bird.

Maybe he was afraid of what he might find.

Draw me like one of your French shrubs.
