Author Topic: Can an adventurer be moved up one z-level without a slope/stairs?  (Read 1385 times)

The idea is to have a reaction in adventurer mode that allows a temporary slope or up/down stair to be placed for an adventurer to ascend/descend 1 z-lvl.  That or some kind of reaction that allows for an alt-arrow movement up or down using an item named a "rope and piton" or ladder" as a reagent.

I know that climbing will be hard-coded in the next release, but until then, this work-around sounds like it would be doable maybe.

I know that dwarves can ascend in 7/7 water while swimming, maybe the same movement can work in a single space but without that whole "drowning" thing?

How do you suppose this movement will be done?

You could possibly add an interaction that temporarily gives a creature wings, or transforms it into a winged creature, or possibly just add the [FLIER] tag.

Can't add parts with interactions, FLIER is not supported by interactions, the middle one will unequip everything and pathfinding doesn't work with fliers in fortress more anyway.

You can create stairs with dfhack.  Or rather turn a given tile into natural stairs.

So turning a tile into natural stairs - how is that done?
