I find DF is helpful as a manager.  I can deal with dwarves I can deal with anything.

It has been helpful for child care as well.

The great Dwarfen Philosopher Urist McConfused said it best:  "Light a kitten on fire and it will run screaming into the booze stockpile and catch the whole fort up.  I know, we tested it in twelve different forts and it always happened."

Helpful for child care in that there's no problem you can't solve with a little booze?

I suddenly have fears that GirlInHat's proposals are being used on some tormented, fatless, high dodge tyke somewhere chained up next to rabid pit bulls while kittens are constantly killed in front of him.

Or magma.  Never underestimate the teaching power of magma.
