I say use the maimed guy as bait for bigger game.
Name tree 1 Jangotree
Name tree 2 Greedpicklewood
Pay the prospectors the usual price, a good merchant depends on his assets and must therefore fulfill his side of the deal.
Let one of your workers create a wooden ring for the blood red stone, so you can wear it on your hand. Improve the ring once there is metal.

Nice work you done on the first post... Really neatly organized

Chapter 1.4 - Findings
Mist Season - Second Month -10th day of First Cycle

Spoiler: The Settling (click to show/hide)

The next Cycle marks a sudden end to your indecisiveness with the wounded failure. His fever suddenly worsens, the inside of his wounds having contracted pus somehow. As his only failing was carelessness, you quickly grant him the mercy that he and the other failures beg you for.

His remains already prove themselves the day they are laid out – attracting some birds of prey. The Soldiers only are able to net two of them, the toothed beasts easily reaching you over your belt. They also seem fairly intelligent, and now cry out in warning whenever a goblin approaches. Without a bow the soldiers guess that it will be very difficult to hunt them – until they get smart on those too. Sadly, none of them has any skill with bows, nor can your carpenters boast of the ability to craft them.

In that vein, the soldiers have ventured onto the middle plateau, a region they bestow many curses upon. The thorny brushwork found there has finger-long, barbed thorns, and truly dominates the area. To their dismay, the feathered predators also call this area their home.

Having easily finished the hovel, both carpenters are free to help with the construction of the tower. Help that is needed, because the Masons have their hands full with working the stone – the by now exposed layer albeit yielding better stone, proving also more bothersome to procure.

It is only a few days after you promised the prospectors “the usual pay”, that they show up with mixed feelings. They found something, and in the valley you reside in to boot. Their story goes that, while trying to get a better point of view on the southern mountain that throws his shadow into the valley, they just so happened to stumble upon it.

You sense no lie in their story, they themselves somewhat embarrassed by the current turn of events. Either way, you seem to possess a source of gold – its true extent currently open for further exploration.

On the matter of your own Training, you sprained your ankle and subsequently did not much of it at all. While it healed nicely, it certainly had no positive impact on your abilities.

Any priorities or changes?

Anything else that you can think of~

Yeah... So between moving my data to a new pc, finally being able to play games again after... a couple of months, and the somewhat steep workload that I had given myself, this update certainly took a while. But with the map of the settling, I finally moved into the direction I wanted this game to go. Still not quite there yet (like the sign) but I'll get there eventually.

For those wondering, the tower is already drafted - but thats where my mood left me, so~ update it is.
Well, I actually also lack more than drafts for some of the plants and wildlife, drafts for some of the surrounding races we actually might never meet... but all in due time~

Else, I think we will finish this months three cycles, and then do this month-wise.

YAY Update.
Ok obviously continue on the manor/keep have the masons and carpenters continue on that. I would recommend working on that ourselves. For the soldiers have them keep hunting you know doing there thing see if in his spare time a carpenter could throw together a wooden cage see if we could domesticate one of those birds. If we do get a cage have the soldiers try to net one of the birds and work on the domesticating of it ourselves hopefully it will be smart enough not to bite the hand that feeds it. Send the prospectors out again to find more metal ore.
