xkcd: connecting the ocean to the tent
« on: February 14, 2014, 04:45:53 am »

Today's xkcd (http://xkcd.com/1330/) seemed eerily glowing dwarf fortress like. I think Urist McBlackHat would make a fine overlord :-).

(although they probably just hit the first cavern with a bunch of screaming lizardmen next to a magma pipe, the amateurs)

Nah, attempting to drain ocean into underground makes you no good in DF.
Besides, they'd first hit magma if they got to the circus.

Drowning the caverns is pretty much standard procedure in DF. Want to get rid of unconvenient ponds (or oceans)? Want to build an aquifer-powered real flow power plant and need someplace for all that water to drain? Dump it into the caverns! Caverns are great for water disposal, as long as you can take the FPS hit.

Watering the Circus'd be a bit more complicated, but certainly doable. The clowns wouldn't bother, though. Anyway, short of slade mining, you need to breach a blue tube to get to the circus, and i'm not sure the miners had any (copper pick)s handy.

I'm pretty sure that the clowns can swim, so This is a terrible idea to kill them.

unless the biome is freezing, then maybe you can connect it to the surface and make them freeze to death.

I think this one's their best joke concerning DF so far: http://xkcd.com/1223/

EDIT: Keas restricted to tropical forests where they belong.  Those evil, EVIL, foul little things.

Edit: The baby murderer became a friend of the fortress, which started a loyalty cascade, and now most of the squad is dead.
