Burrows and Wheelbarrows - Whhhaaa?
« on: February 02, 2014, 02:16:48 am »

Can someone confirm what I'm seeing?  Relatively simple:

Put a stone stockpile in one place.  Add wheelbarrows.
Dig stone in another place.

Put the same burrow over the stone and the stockpile, stick all your dwarves in said burrow, and then watch as you get continuous spam about not being able to recover an item because the wheelbarrow is dropped as they cross the unburrowed space.

Sounds perfectly dwarven to me.

You have one wheelbarrow and need to carry a goat, a cabbage, and a wolf across the fortress. You put the goat in the wheelbarrow, take three steps, and drop everything from your hands because you were expressly told not to do any jobs in the hallway, and carrying a goat sure feels like work. It's probably time for a drink!

One remedy that comes to mind is Burrow Pathfinding. It's sorta like the traffic designations, except using Burrows to MacGuyver a more unique and 'forced' path.

I haven't played in a considerable time, but theoretically, I think this can be exploited.
