Yes. No need to bring Friend Computer into this.

Does anyone, uh... want to respond to the things I said? :(

I don't think anyone disagrees with you.

It definitely strikes me as weird when people start talking about football like they actually took part in the match. The same with politics.

Damn, why didn't I join in earlier - so many people would have gotten pissed :P

My contribution, because I believe this hasn't been said before: I guess it helps if you know the other person from other places on the board. Looking at the Ukraine thread: My viewpoint is radically different from that of Guardian GI, but I still get along well with him (I hope) because I've seen him make good contributions in other places - that's why I can appreciate his point of view, and evaluate my own according to the new information. That's a thing that actually happened!
On the other hand, take gogis: I've never seen him around, so - by gut feeling - I read his posts as typical internet material, making building bridges much more difficult. Or maybe Vector is a better example: I sure as hell disagree with her on some issues, but in a debate, should I ever get into one with her, it'll be much easier to stay civil - because she's got a 'face', so to speak.
Hey there!

Concerning the Ukraine thread and political debates in general, I don't mind people with absolutely different political views (my political views are pretty radical, if not extremist by this forum's standards, so it means practically everyone else here), but I can't stand people who are very hostile, who react to everything contravening their viewpoint with scathing and bitter remarks and who constantly try to provoke a fight. We've got a handful of these people in the Ukraine thread and elsewhere, but I don't think it would be polite to call names.

this means that a donation of 30 dollars to a developer that did not deliver would equal 4.769*10^-14 hitlers stolen from you
that's like half a femtohitler
and that is terrible

You used sentence fragments instead of a semicolon; your argument is invalid.

Uh, those aren't sentence fragments.

Okay, they're not quite sentence fragments. They'd still look better as a single sentence, though.
