You'll usually want to put photos in spoiler tags too, so they don't distort the page and mess up people's scrolling while they're loading.

The full-size post reply form has buttons for the image and spoiler tags, if you can't be bothered to remember them.

EDIT: Oh, if it's a photo you have stored locally, you'll need to upload it to an image host first - the image tags only work for URLs. img.ie and imgur are two good, free ones.
