Rotten forgotten beast
« on: January 19, 2014, 07:41:12 am »

The following FB has been lurking in the cavern below the fort for about 5 years:

I've tried to lure him under the cave in by pitting some animals and goblins, which he never noticed. Then one day, he came into the sight spreading miasma, all rotten from head to toes:

Any ideas on how this could've happened?

P.S: There are 3 more FB's lurking around in an unexplored/out of vision section of the cavern. Could they infight?

That Beast probably got caught in some kind of necrotizing gas, which is funny because I thought they were immune to syndromes in general. Do you know whether or not one of the other FB's has some kind of secretion or gas emission?

I don't know how it all works, I just throw molten science at the wall and see what ignites.

They're immune to their own individual syndromes. They won't attack each other directly, but any FB with secretions that boil at cavern temperature will be passively 'attacking' anything in range.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

There is a whole zoo of FB's there, most of them are in the unexplored section of the cavern, except this hairy slug (jeez, everything is hairy down there):

I can definitely tell, that there is a Humanoid composed out of water (poison gas), giant hairy caterpillar (poison secretions), giant eyeless owl (deadly dust), giant crab composed out of steam (poison vapours). But  those are on a different z-levels, separated by 10+ layers. I have no idea if there's a deep pit though, which migh have let owl through.

For obvious reasons, I'm not letting anyone to the caverns (nobles have a lifelong pass however) , so again, no idea what those beast were fighting to release gas/dust. Funny though, the troll I decided to thro into the pit killed the said lobster with 1 kick to the head.
