water pressure problem

so i have a water system and i did the diagonal pressure removal thing but when it reached my wells it still flowed upwards any reason this might have happened?

My guess is that you removed pressure on a z-level above your reservoir. Adding a diagonal doesn't remove pressure in the whole system, it relieves pressure at that point. If pressure builds up after that, the diagonal does nothing.

It is always best to put a floodgate or lever controlled door between your fort and an infinite water source. Or build a pump, the reservoir only fills when the pump is in use. That way, if you make a mistake, or just want to change things around, you can.

when using a pump, make sure it's either turned by hand or you can turn it off
