It's been said by everybody already.

Truth is the best answer, not just here, but as a general principle.

If you keep lying, then there are really only 2 possible outcomes.

1. You mess up, and they find out.
2. You get sick of the lies.

Even if you never mess up, and they never find out, simply by the fact that you've posted this thread to begin with, I can already tell you that you will eventually get tired of it, and you'll hate yourself for it, for a very long time.
And the longer you draw it out, the longer you'll hate yourself for it.

I'm not trying to be mean or upsetting, I'm saying this from my own experience as trying to be someone I wasn't, you can't keep it up forever.
If you tell her, then again, one of two things will happen.

1. She can't accept it, and you break up.
2. She accepts you for who you are.

If you lie to her, then she won't be able to accept it. Period.

Just be honest.

I'll forward the common notion that telling her is the best option--we do appreciate (as a generality ) that you're open enough to talk about this for advice, but the best way in these scenarios (ie You've seen stuff that tells you negativity about what you believe is the right thing to do and are hesitant to follow through despite you knowing its the right way) is to approach it directly.

Tell her exactly what you're telling us here, and more, (what you didn't tell us.)
While the act can be considered respectful..well, what you did there I mean, it is best that the others know where you're sure, and probably why you did so.

relationships over, due to "interest and other issues" basically we talked it over and while we'll remain friends, we're not going anywhere else. that conversation took awhile and wandered all over the place.

I was gonna suggest that you explain that you're unfamiliar with their services and you thought that was just a thing you were supposed to do. You know how in sitcoms there's always this misunderstanding and if everyone just stopped trying to maintain dignity they could get through all their problems in about 30 seconds?

(BTW when you're on an island and the natives grab you and bring you to the chief's hut, and he has a little bamboo table with two candles, two cups, and two live chickens - you better watch what he's gonna do before you jump in and start doing stuff)
