Aww. I would like to be redorfed, a marksman. (Possibly a rifledorf if you are planning on developing sweet sweet dwarven gunpowder)

Question will the shaft of enligntenment or danger rooms be used?

No. I don't like using them, because it takes away the excitement of seeing your dwarves slowly going up in skill.

Besides, danger rooms don't work in MDF, and the shaft of enlightment is great but not perfect - for example, it makes it so that you'll never be able to raise "armor user" - because the dwarf either does not get hit in combat, or gets hit and incapacitated due to a 0 armor user skill.

I just don't get the obsession with danger rooms. Dwarves are no more precious than the sugar roast sitting in your food stockpile; they are easily replaceable. Especially with the addition of embassy in MDF, dwarves have even lower value in their dwarf power. You really don't need to set up something filthy like danger rooms to cheat your way out of training military. Just keep a squad or two consisted of 5 well trained, well armored dwarven military, and another couple squads of rag tag militia/meatshields to patrol your fort's entrance. Seriously guys, it's not hard, and it's most certainly not rocket science.

I agree. To me, a legendary fighter with only one name and no history is something completely ludicrous. I want him with 4 names, 23 sutures, dozens of kills, one crutch and a vicious history of surviving against all odds, by beating titans up with stone warhammers due to lack of better material. Otherwise, what's the point?
