Mechants not leaving.
« on: January 05, 2014, 06:33:39 pm »

Some merchants are not leaving. There is a path to the depot, I checked with D. The merchants announced that they were leaving, but they just sat there. I am pretty sure my dwarves can kill the merchants if they go crazy, but I am not sure about the animals (the horse kicks the dwarven swordlord in the head, jamming the skull through the brain!). What should I do?

Check with "t" over the depot whether they have loaded everything up the wagons. If you sell loads of items to them it can take them forever to pack and leave, longest I had was two full seasons.

Deconstruct the depot.  And magma.

A lot of the stuff is still in the depot. I did sell them a lot of mugs.

I do not want to aggravate this civ, as they bring nice things (drow from masterwork mod). Also, while I do have access to magma in this fort, I doubt that I could pour it on the merchants before they leave/go insane.

And these mugs weren't in bins, right?

It'll take them a very long time to leave. Maybe even a few seasons. Don't worry though, they can't go insane while they're packing up, only if they are attempting to leave and the path is blocked.

reminds me of the time i sold a few thousand crafts to a caravan, without bins. Took them a year to finish packing.

The mug were not in bins. I will not waste bins on trade. I just sell them all the obsidian mugs and small cave spider silk loincloths without any wrappings.

Yeah, that's the reason I don't sell them thousands of worthless XXclothesXX anymore. It doesn't bother me if they stay long, but sometimes the human caravan leaves exactly the moment the dwarven caravan enters the inner fort, they get stuck in my 3-tile wide hallway and I have to make a second tunnel to get them out.
