Dwarves Having Construction Trouble
« on: January 07, 2014, 01:35:55 am »

Sorry if this has been asked already, but I constantly have the problem of my dwarves never building walls. Here's an example; there was clay that made up a couple bedroom's walls, so I mined out the clay and I'm trying to replace the clay with gabbro walls.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

There are two problems I encounter, one; the dwarf that's building never seems to be able to build the wall at the corner. And, the dwarf never build the wall next to the first bed because he is standing were the wall is supposed to be built, so it gives me the "Creature occupying site" report. I'm just guessing that dwarves cannot build diagonally? Sorry if this is a stupid question, thanks in advance.

Wall in corner has to be constructed first. If not, it will never be. They cannot build wall diagonally indeed.
Stupid Urist standing on the wall he's trying to build is a way too common stupid behaviour. You have to cancel teh construction and order it again.

As a Urist McFrenchy, please forgive my english

Heck, only the elves would tame a leech. [...] Just for this, I'm starting up lead goblet production. Anyone who tries to sell me a tame leech deserves to die from lead poisoning.
