Whenever I hit save/it autosaves my game stops working, at the top it says Dwarf Fortress (Not Responding) this lasts up to ten FULL MINUTES! How do I fix it?

Does it actually save after not responding or does it just crash and not save at all?

Is your computer a bit older or do you have any resource-hungry applications running besides DF?

You could try to turn "compressed saves" off (in df/data/init/init.txt, at the bottom of the file). I don't think it's related, but that used to cause save game problems for me.

It does eventually save, and I have nothing else running other than dwarf therapist and google chrome.

Well, with my computer running DF together with a browser is already enough to make saving take quite a while. I usually close all other applications for saving and it still takes a minute or two.

Are you running DF from your hard disk or a flash drive?  Flash drives will make the game load and save slower in general, but it shouldn't be that much slower.

Do any other games or programs save extraordinarily slowly, or is it just DF?

DF is more resource consuming than it looks, especially on saving. Try if it's a bit faster without Chrome and DwarfTherapist, but don't worry if it still takes 5 minutes, that happens.

It is on a flash drive and it is moddded (if that matters)
