Is there a way to reduce the number of aquifers you get without eliminating them entirely?

Dr UristLove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Aquifer.

Sorry, that's no help, it just ran through my head when I saw this.  I won't embark without an aquifer anymore.
Trivial answer would be to remove aquifer tags from some but not all of the RAWs.  A bit painstaking to do also.
A quick search through the worldgen thread seems to indicate increasing drainage and elevation reduces aquifers.  Don't know about that personally.

And to be able to undo your edits just make a backup of the raws you edit. The files are small enough that you won't notice even on older (5 to 6 years) machines. It's after all just a text file

Jam a door with its corpse and let all the goblins in. Hey, nobody said it had to be a weapon against your enemies.
