Door taken by intruders from the other side of the map?

I have two doors leading into my fort. A siege came and I was going to lock them both, but one of them had that "door taken by intruder" on them, which according to the wiki means that an intruder has moved passed the door and has thus "taken" it and to take it back I need to move one of my squads through it.
I don't understand how could this happen if the enemies were literally on the other side of the map?

Possibly could have been just bad timing.  Might have had a thief or babysnatcher sneak through and remain undetected around the same time as the siege.
