In Malik's World

She glared at the man in front of her, his rotten skin slowly leaving the black flesh on his face. It was an Elven soldier, in the middle of the capital of the human empire. An empire that stood for 4000 years without such a thing happening.

The knife sticking in her chest was most certainly fatal, she won't survive this night, but may the Pillars help her to let her daughter be born without any complications.

Lifting her right arm and shouting, flames lashed out and took the assassin's head off, black blood splattering around. It was a horrible deed, magic flowing through a body took life and even though the humans had maybe 1 in 2,000,000 with a flicker of magic in them, even the dumbest people to the most savage of elves knew that a pregnant woman using magic would be killing her child usually.

Her child...

She couldn't let her die! Suddenly the door was thrown open she saw the Royal Guard and the King himself standing there behind them, the latter shocked at her appearance, her wound not visible under the black blood she was showered with and that mixed with hers. An attack within the castle. Should the elf have wanted it, he could have killed the king himself.

"High Scholar! What happened!?" the King's words were ignored as she fell to her knees.

"My daughter, my lord..." she got out, "my daughter, please take care of..."

Who?

Ella! (Swan)
Um, what?
...No.

Taylor.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And so she was named Taylor, as her mother wished it. But misfortune was brought to the castle soon and the king was found dead, not a drop of poison in his body, nor a wound to open his flesh. The biggest problem was above all the one who would take over his throne. Neither of his sons was old enough, barely two years older than the newborn, and so the queen took over as regent.

Nobody realized the Taylor was gone until later that night when the nurse entered the room, curious about how silent the child was.

But where could she be? Not nearby, no, because nobody foolish enough to take a child from the care of the royal family would stay in the capital.

The only possibilities would be...

(A) In another part of the human realm,
(B) In the east, where the Elven ruled,
(C)The the southern continent, where the beastpeople had their tribes,
(D)or in the worst case of all, in the independent realms where the races mingled!

The Pillars must have forsaken them. The child was the daughter of the High Scholar, one of the five that were chosen by the king! Mages like no other! Of course, the nurse realized! The girl would have that magic blood!

The Queen! She had to tell the Queen!

The great southern plains. The rather flat continent where the beast-people lived.

The beast-people were are proud race, and one knew not to mess with them when they had their greatest weapon, "Beastblood Iron". That kind of iron no one but them could create and that had one special ability, self-repair. Under great heat forged and shaped into it's form it would remain so until too much iron was cut away and it became too thin.

Of course, the fact that the continent was so hot and flat was an advantage to the beasts, for the only direction the enemies, be it their elven or humans could attack, was the north and the Owlish Clans were those that protected it.

The clan were the most important part of their culture, their different races rarely mingled, but even as their lived in their clans they had one leader, chosen after the death of the old one in the middle of the continent. There their only true city existed "Bayan", the civilized city.

And there it was where the leader ruled, and there it was where Taylor was taken.

And they knew that Taylor was special when they took her, but how special they would realize much later, for she would rarely cry and not once would she hurt herself when she fell. But what made her really special between the beasts, besides being a human raised in the care of civilized beasts was that she was-

(A) able to control magic through words, nearly limitless!
(B) able to predict the outcome of any battle she witnessed and react accordingly!
(C) able to lift the heaviest of armors without any sign of strain!

And that when she was barely 10!
Now though she was barely 19, and a tragedy soon strikes. Never have they lied to her, they took her from her home, but she could forgive them. But never would she be able to forgive them. The-

(A) Humans, attacking the tribes without provocation and slaughtering innocents!
(B) Elven, the disgusting race of the woods using their mass of mages to attack!
(C) Elementals, the enemy of every single being in Malik's world!

They told her, she believe it.

Those weren't like the elf that killed her mother. Their skin pale, their hair bright, their eyes small but shining from the fire they spread.

No, the one that killed her mother was probably raised by magic, and so she despised it!

Lifting the beastblood iron sword she took from the armory, she glared down from a window in one of the last towers.

Her body was like steel, never broken. When she fell, she was never hurt, yet she was no heavier than other girls her age.

These elven were dead, they just didn't kn-
No, that wouldn't fit.

Jumping out of the window with a warcry as her only company threw her sword downward and hit one of the unsuspecting elves. He was dead before her feet crushed the bones in his body.

"It's her!" One of them shouted, "the one we-"
Dead. Her speed wasn't as great as that of the beasts but  her strength was greater than that of any trained warrior human and she knew how to swing a large weapon.

The magic sent at her didn't even hurt her skin while it shattered through the thin armor.

"Orrea! Summon him again!" and another one bites the dust. The elven were... squishy. Those wizards had no idea how to fight and their surprise attack was the only reason they brought down the city.

Or not.

A... golem. It was the only way she could describe it. A giant golem of nothing more than stones held together by more stones, weapons sticking in his body and one arm missing.

So we didn't go down without fighting back.

"GrAHhhHHHHHHHhhHHH!" a screeching noise left it's mouth. The giant arm was over her faster than she could react and it crushed her.

Or so she thought. Though she was stuck in the floor she barely felt any pain... the first time she felt barely any pain.

Her strength was that of ten men! Her technique taught to her by the best of Bayan!

And yet, she couldn't see herself winning this fight. These were at least 400 mages, and a golem faster than it should be possible with that size.

The city was ablaze.
She could still hear children cry for their mothers.
Women searching for their husbands.
Innocents dying.

The white of her eyes turned black.

And once again, with a battle cry she jumped out of the crater she was stuck in before her sword found its way through the golem's body. And it shattered.

"Does she have the Ravenwood?" more than one shouted. The secret dark wood that absorbed magic, growing in the elven lands, useless to any mage of course. No.

That wasn't it.

But all went black before her eyes and when she awoke she was far from the town, seeing the flames from afar where nothing waited for her anymore. Those that lived would live on.

But... what should she do?
