Regarding enemies in constraints.
« on: December 19, 2013, 02:30:42 pm »

Hi guys,

Just a quick question. I have a couple goblin lords I tied up in constraints. But I want to move them to cages, how do I go about doing that?

When I build a cage, and then try to assign it to a specific mob, the goblins name doesn't show up.

1. I assume you mean restraints, not constraints.
2. I don't believe chained hostiles are available for assigning to cages because they can't be safely untied - if you want to do that sort of thing, you should deconstruct the restraint (ideally by pulling a lever) and then lead the creature into a cage trap.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Restraints yes, my fault.

My next question is, if I use a lever to release the enemy would he be hostile to my dwarves, should I build cage traps around it?

The enemy will be hostile, yes. Make certain the goblins have to pass over several cage traps before reaching any dwarves. (IE, close off everything but one hall leading to it, and line it with traps. Then pull the lever.)

Or you can take your chances and set them loose anyways, but no guarantees for safety.
