Need help plz

So I just started playing Dwarf Fortress after seeing a few video about it but I noticed something weird when using the < and > keys. When I press shift+< or > the z axis moves up or down, but the x and y axis also shift while changing elevations. Example: I built a 3x3 downward stairway, when I go down in elavation the 3x3 grid moves down and to the right, when I go up the grid moves up and to the left. I can't figure out why my view is shifting x,y positions. This isn't happening in any of the videos I've watched. Any help to fix this would be appreciated.
Also I am using the Lazy Newb pack, I believe v15 (not sure if thats the most current) with DF 0.34.11 (I think)

The most current is r42. Not really sure why the view shift is happening for you. Maybe check keybinds?

Thanks for the quick reply. I don't know what you mean by r42. Is that the latest DF or the latest Newb Pack? Anyway I noticed that I had two key binding on the Newb Pack GUI, defaut and LNP. So I deleted one of them and it seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks for the quick reply :)

Newb pack, latest DF version is 0.34.11
