Slaughtering caged animals
« on: December 02, 2013, 10:21:30 am »

So, how do I slaughter potentially dangerous animals whilst they are in their cages?

Do I need to tame them first because when I mark them for slaughtering nothing happens.

Usually when you mark for slaughter, they take them to the butcher's shop like any other animal, so it should work, do you have butchers available with the correct labour?

If your animals aren't expendable, you could always station a dwarf or two out there?

Yes, wild animals must be tamed first for safe handling.

Even training them to just semi-wild will do the trick. Just be sure to have a butcher immediately available for the task; wouldn't want the beast to turn wild again while it's being led to it's doom.
