Laptop not working, can I get some help?
« on: December 03, 2013, 02:40:09 am »

When the laptop is turned on and the only user is accessed to input the password ionce the password is input and I attempt to log in a message appears saying:
"The User Profile Service service failed the logon.

User Profile cannot be loaded."
When this message is dismissed the screen goes back to the logon screen.

Any of you know what's going on?

Did you encrypt anything with anything. At all. This was a very common problem when I used truecrypt on my laptop.

Indicates that something's wrong with your OS, if that wasn't obvious. I'd suggest backing the fuck out of that drive and reinstalling the OS, just in case. Mine collapsed on me a month after I started getting these messages (by the way, if you reboot a lot you should be able to log in normally as this is a fluke in most cases)

Can't log in at all, even if reboot and nothing had been encrypted.

Alright... you're probably going to need to bypass that whatsoever, if that's even possible. Which OS?

Ehh. Well, if it's 8, you're going to need bash shift+f8 at startup so it throws you into the recovery screen, go to advanced recovery and boot into safe mode from there. Then nuke your old account with the default admin account and create a new one. If the default's busted, I've got nothing.

Actually, you can do the same if it's another version, 8's went full-on silly with that stuff so I figured I might tell you the specifics. Boot into safe mode -> nuke account -> check for results.

What about booting from a live cd, backing your files with rsync and then doint a fresh install? If you still have your m$ license number lying around that could be the simplest way
