It's simple, yes, but it does the job well and it does feel like a poster.
Besides, there's only so much you can do regarding a niche ASCII game without any graphics to begin with (intro cutscene and tilesets notwithstanding)

What's so bad about it? It's suitably dwarfy, and more interesting to most than a big, red D shooting out multicoloured punctuation.
