What do you do?

$100 for a bag of vomit? Hot damn!
It would have to be more money.
Only if he isn't going to eat it.
Ok, but eating it costs extra.
Who cares if he eats it? $100!
Nope. Never.

Hypothetical Situation: selling your vomit
« on: November 01, 2013, 09:51:27 am »

You are on an airplane. You get airsick and vomit in a bag. The guy sitting next to you offers you $100 for your bag of vomit.

Do you accept his offer?

What if you knew he was going to eat it on the spot?

Absolutely. I don't have to deal with the bag, I get $100, and I get to make some guy's day a little better? I don't see the downside. Heck, I won't even have to watch, since I'll be headed to the restroom to rinse my mouth out and such.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

He wants it (and will pay me for it), and I want to get rid of it. I don't see a problem here.

I should know what that is from, but I don't. I feel as though I've seen it somewhere. What is it from?

Survey does not contain 'no', therefore this is a write in.

Reasoning 1: It would likely make other passengers sick, and cause a vomit chain reaction. No, this is not a capitalistic chain reaction in this case.
Reasoning 2: Such a transaction is effectively sale of a potential biohazard.
Reasoning 3: I do not take advantage of people I consider to be potentially mentally handicapped.

... mog has a good point. I'd refrain unless I was aware of the local commerce laws regarding the substance. Then...

... then it would probably depend on if I currently had enough of an income to have to file taxes, because I honestly would rather not have that sort of transaction on the record, y'know?

Otherwise, as others said. Squick aside, a hundred bucks is food for the better part of a month, if not more. An unfortunate but easy decision.

I'd be hesitant to hand bodily fluids that could possibly be used to incriminate me of something to a stranger.

And, *if* I agreed to it, goes without saying that eating it costs extra. Supply and demand; at that point I'd have a monopoly over puke in the plane, so might as well exploit it while it lasts (which wouldn't be long)
