Excellent :D just searched "Medievia" to make sure at least someone had mentioned it, and many have :D In terms of development I feel Vryce and Toady have a lot in common :D Digital babies! (though Vryce employs helpers more often)..

Medievia is shined and deserving of hordes of players, but due to the lack of graphics has a hard time getting them.. I'm actually etched into its history because they had a contest to rename the Newbies Guild and mine got picked :D my character name was Rallac/is Impus currently.. i think News 300 or so announces me as sweet winner :D got 300mil gold for my efforts too :)

I haven't been playing in a bit but I log on every couple months just to make sure its still there :)

Maybe it always will be..

lol I love Medievia but that is huge insult to Toady comparing him to Vryce. Vryce has been making huge promises and proclamations about all the great stuff he's going to add to the game for years now, and he's implemented pretty much 0 of it (but still finds the time to write huge hype blogs and beg for money). Toady is the complete opposite, working quietly away at his game and putting out results, not empty promises.

I remember playing that way back in 2000, a while before boats.  I enjoy the atmosphere and the zones (especially the Xez Cathedral- that place is required attendance from levels ~17-20), but I don't have the free time to dedicate to it any more.

Might want to try this site: http://www.isup.me/
It'll tell you if the website is just down for you or if it's a global thing! :)
(I'd check it myself but I've got to go right now, sorry!)

Hmm, darn, I was hoping to waste a few minutes setting up a character; this sounds like a lot of fun, but as far as I can tell the site's down. Oh well, bookmarked for later.

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

Using plain telnet is a terrible idea, I'd say.

Necroooo BUMP! :) Medievia can never have enough attention.. Its an old, old friend of mine :) I even won 300 million gold once by winning the "Name The Newbie Clan" contest (character name Impus, submitted name "Novices of The Realm" and won it.. I THINK the news backlog still covers it, news 301 or 302, maybe :)

I played this game when I was fifteen, and I'm thirty now.. Long time :>

I miss this game, but I don't feel the need to play again since none of the promised new features have gone in.
