Why do so many males have avatars depicting females?

It seems to be common place on the interwebs.

Quite simply, they are beautiful. Online, the taste in aesthetics and entertainment is more relevant than gender anyway.

My avatar, the Worldly Sasquatch from Rifts Canada however was chosen because it looks like me and is a funny concept.
