I get attacked and can't move?

The title sums up my question. An alligator leaped from the river, knocked me over, and now I can't do anything. The buttons I press don't seem to do anything. I am a total noob at adventure mode, and if someone could help that would be great.

P.S. Pretty sure I'm not dead

P.P.S. it would be pretty embarrassing to be killed by an alligator, because I just killed a titan.

Have you tried Alt-moving (holding the alt key while trying to move and selecting the target tile)? Have you pressed enter enough to clear incoming messages? Are you sure you're not dead? Has your game frozen?

Does menus still work? Like inventory etc? If not, youre a) frozen b) flying.

If you're flying, you'll need to skip some time (press button .) to skip ticks.

Menus don't work, but the pause one does. I am definitely not dead (the Esc menu doesn't say Finish game). I'll try what you said.

no matter what happens (broken spine no arms or legs etc) you should always be able to move unless you've... been grabbed by something (in this case a crocidiles mouth) you are flying, and last but not least paralyzed.
