Uhm Ebbor theres a massive tunnel behind us leading to the surface and it isn't sealed, the only way you suffocate them out is by suffocating all of us as well.

Ideally, we'd break the tunnel between us and them. Or can use a fire or something block the airflow.

On a side note, considering a significant part of the 40k tactics appears to be inspired by WOI tactics, do we have access to poison gas.

We've got very limited time though, the main enemy assault will arrive soon we can't afford days or more for the chance of forcing them out even if it works and they don't open a new airway somehow. We need to get in and start fortifications as soon as possible the outer defense won't hold long.

You guys don't have access to poison gas sadly, that would be quite interesting :v

Alright. Time for distraction techniques.

Pull the supplies out of the supply scout salamander, and the ministorum priests with their men out of theirs(if they'd be willing. The three will form a wedge pattern and drive at full speed towards the gate, their armor should help them survive the bolter fire, and act like they're going to ram it. Meanwhile, flamer squad will use their scout salamander at top speed, but indirectly, and try to get around, to one side and next to one of the turrets, disembarking and charging in to clear out the area. Ralph's squad will also disembark, and the heavy weapons squad will go in their Salamander, soon after the Flamers have gone, so they aren't bunched up. They will use the oppurtunity the flamers and the salamanders distraction gives them to set up their weapons and begin raining hell on the enemy turret(s), prioritizing the one by them if the flamers haven't managed to disable it. On the other side, whilst the flamers move in, the anti-tank squad will do the same thing, preferably simultaneously, setting up to destroy the turret by them. In all cases, once squads have disembarked, the salamanders are to protect them as best they can from anti-infantry fire. Two squads of scouts are to sneak or set up outside of the Tarantula's range, and suppress enemy anti-vehicle weaponry with sniper fire. We would ask the ministorum priests to accompany the flamer squad and heavy weapon squad, while Ralph leads the remaining two scout squads in a speed play once all necessary 'distractions' have been set up, making their way to advantageous positions and taking oppurtunity attacks when they can, relocating when necessary. They will prioritize enemy commanders and melee specialists. Finally, the Veteran Infantry should accompany us in the command chimera, whilst the two infantry squads move to support both turret killing operations, one each, on foot, once the enemy s sufficiently distracted. Our chimera, finally, will make it's way to the gate. The initial wedge of salamanders will not, in fact, ram the gate, turning away at the last reasonable time, one turning as if it were going to ram the tarantula the flamers are attacking, two as if they were to do the same to the tarantula the anti-tank squad is taking care of.

Of course, I could be making assumptions. >.>

(( How are they going to disable an automated unmanned turret with no explosives? Heavy weapons might work but the flamers have nothing to hurt that turret with. ))

They aren't there to destroy the turret, they're there to kill the people manning it. Same effect. Or, at least, distract it while the heavy weapons team destroys it. Promethium could probably set off the magazines in it/by it, though. They could always just jam it with lasguns or something.

Tarantulas are self-operating turrets, they don't have anyone manning them so they aim, shoot, and reload by themselves :P

(( A frontal assault is a bad idea, especially since we have no idea how many men are on the fortress walls and how many heavy weapons they have up there. We don't have enough intel yet for that and it should be a back up option. Besides chaos love close range combat and have serious arrogance issues so taunting them out has a good chance of success, if we force them outside they lose the turrets support and any heavy weapons they've got set up and can force them to fight more evenly.

We can't afford to throw away lives this early when we have a full scale chaos assault coming, much stronger then the last one.

Glad this is back BTW. ))

>.> send the heavy weapons guys first then. Flamers can support them once they've reached target, instead of vice versa like I said earlier.

Also, I think we can do a bit more than just taunting them. Particularly when this is meant to be a mobile scout force, not our usual siege force. Defense is not our strong point right now. Heavy weapons can be set up anyway, though they will lose turret support. We'd have to deal with them at some point anyway though. Or, of course, possibility of ignoring our taunts.

Those turrets have equal or superior range to our heavy weapons, they'll be torn to pieces.

Why go straight for a frontal assault when we clearly lack the numbers and heavy weapons for it?

That should be a last resort when we know we have a massive battle to come, we should try my option first. What do we lose by holding off for 5-10 minutes to try and make them come to us first?

Such a short time isn't gonna change anything and it could save us a lot of lives if it works.

Time is on their side. Why should they come out?
If you read what I typed, you'll see there's a distraction for the turrets. It's not a frontal assault. It's a distraction, then hitting from either side.
