Evil Weather
« on: October 03, 2013, 07:21:29 pm »

Hello I wish to simply turn the evil weather at my fort off because it just causes fps drop and is benign to everything and I would prefer not to have abhorrent filth everywhere. How can I get rid or stop it?

Weather can be disabled by changing [WEATHER:YES] to [WEATHER:NO] in the d_init.txt file.

Did you restart DF after changing the init file?

Did you turn it off while it was still raining?

As far as I know evil weather (rain and fog/clouds/mist) is not affected by the weather settings.  I generally play with them off and I still get rains of filth and blood.

It's faster to write "!!science!!" than any of the synonyms: "mad science", "dwarvern science", or "crimes against the laws of god and man".

I believe what you are trying to do is only possible with advanced world-gen parameters in advanced world-gen.
You want to turn 'number of evil rain' + 'number of evil cloud' types to 0 to turn evil clouds and rains off. That should solve your problem, for the future anyway...

If you have DFhack, you can always just type 'weather clear' to set weather to clear and sunny, but that may only affect normal rain and snow, although I can't see why it wouldn't at least stop evil rain.
