setting up a farm
« on: March 04, 2008, 06:09:00 am »

Ok, started playing last night.
Information overload.
The night lasted longer than I intented.
Thus I must have enjoyed it.

I created a hole. Carved out a hall.
I created a field 3x3 in a wet area on the first floor.
Now I want to seed it. I select q.
Then in the menu on the right it offers 4 types of crop.
But I'm only able to select the top one.

What are the keys to move the cursor down? Probably a terrible easy question to answer.

The keys you're looking for are - and +, they work as up and down, respectively.  This configuration is used on a great many menus within the game.

Also / and * allow you to page quickly through lists that are scrolled with - and +

You'd think handing out the crossbows to brain damaged dwarfs would be a bad idea but it isn't

Also, some crops must be planted early in the season.  So if it is too late for them, you will have to wait until next year.
